Div 6: Dons 2-2 Plumpton 2nds

The Dons took on Div 6 bottom side Plumpton and were hoping for 3 points. However things did not go to plan in the first half with the Dons conceding twice. The Plumpton long ball did for the Dons on 3 occasions. After 15 minutes a long ball resulted in a penalty which produced an excellent save from Ryan Looker in the home goal. In the next 15 minutes the Dons conceded twice from long balls which caught out the home team. Manager Lee Calcott made some tactical changes and the Dons were much better in the 2nd half. Scott Fitzgerald converted a penalty on the hour with a well struck penalty and Lewis Fowler got the final touch in the 80th minute to draw the sides level. There was still time for the Dons, with heavy pressure, to miss a few chances. A spirited Plumpton side were happy to hang on for a point but were certainly helped by the very small Kings Drive pitch.

Div 6: Dons 1-1 Scaynes Hill 1sts

The Dons lost 3-2 in the first game of the season at Scaynes Hill, so this was likely to be a close contest. The Dons had 5 players missing and a reorganised team struggled to get their game together playing down the slope.  The visitors scored in the 20th minute but the Dons eventually got a foothold in the game when they started to play the ball on the ground. On the hour an excellent team move started by Reuben Samms, was very well finished by an excellent strike from Aaron French.  The Dons were unlucky to defend the slope with the wind gathering strength in the final 30 minutes. With the Dons tiring, a rearguard action was required and Scaynes Hill looked like finding a winner. The Dons spirit saw them hold out and preserve their unbeaten 6 match run, with excellent contributions from Brad Tait and a man of the match performance from Ryan Looker in goal. In the closing minutes an outstanding close range save from Looker must be a contender for save of the season.
